As a special Christmas treat for our transgender children and parents group, we arranged a visit to the Eden Project in Cornwall on Sunday 17th December 2017.
Although the weather was a little cold and drizzly, it did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the children (or their parents) – and the afternoon was spent happily roaming round the different biospheres at the Eden Project, climbing to the summit of the one housing the tropical rain forests and generally gaining some insight into biodiversity and climate change. This was really tiring in the heat and humidity of the biome – and although the children loved it, the adults were a little less enthusiastic by the end of the climb to the summit .
As it began to turn dark at around 5pm, the magic of the place sprang to light with their fabulous “Light and Sound Festival” where the Mediterranean biome was transformed into a wonderful laser light concert with an incredible band (Sound of_Light Ensemble) and acclaimed vocalist (Kesia Barr).
The whole experience was truly mesmerising for the parents and the children and no doubt we will visit the Eden Project again in the summer when the shrubs and flowers are in full bloom in the gardens surrounding the biomes.
